Jimi Manuwa vs. Volkan Oezdemir set for UFC 214

Volkan Oezdemir recently called out top ranked light heavyweight, Jimi Manuwa at UFC Fight Night 109’s post-fight press conference. Wednesday morning UFC officials announced the matchup has been added to July’s UFC 214.

Oezdemir has quickly climbed the ranks in the UFC light heavyweight division. Earning a split decision victory over Ovince Saint Preux in the Switzerland’s Octagon debut at UFC Fight Night 104. Followed by a 28-second knockout over surging light heavyweight Misha Cirkunov, who was more than a 6-1 favorite, at UFC Fight Night 109.

Manuwa is coming off back-to-back devastating knockout wins over Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 204 and Corey Anderson at UFC Fight Night 107. Manuwa wanted his shot at current UFC light heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier, but was ultimately passed up for the returning former champion Jon Jones. Although, Manuwa will be plan B if either Cormier or Jones can’t fight at UFC 214.
