Max Holloway vs. Frankie Edgar

Newly crowned UFC featherweight champion, Max Holloway, delivered a performance of a lifetime at UFC 212. After being down two round, Holloway dropped and put a beating on Jose Aldo until the referee saw enough, earning a third-round TKO. Cementing Holloway as the official king of the featherweights.

So who should Holloway make his first title defense against? only two names come to mind top ranked contenders, Frankie Edgar and Cub Swanson.

Edgar was on this Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour and believes there is only one featherweight title fight to make after UFC 212.

“There is no one else, c’mon. There’s no one that makes sense more than me, no one that’s done what I’ve done to get it.”

Swanson has been campaigning for a title shot and rematch before UFC 212, even though he was finished by both Holloway and Aldo. While Edgar has only lost to Aldo (twice) at featherweight and has never faced Holloway. Edgar doesn’t see how Swanson thinks he deserves a title shot over him.

“I don’t see how he’s in consideration, you know?. Since me and Cub fought, I’ve fought nothing but top-10, top-five guys. I don’t think he’s fought anyone in the top 10 and he’s also lost a match since then. So I don’t think how that’s even, you can’t even compare the two.”
